It was Fate...

My Dalmatian, Quin, went to sleep and didn't wake up. As much as it hurt me, I am glad that his passing was so easy and peaceful. I will miss him. It was a rough day and I had no focus, so I decided to deal with a pile of "to look at later" things. When I get special things in the mail, I like to open them when I have the time to savor the treasures...in the pile was a mailer with a return addy that didn't register. When I opened it, there was an amazing black and white dot bead from a talented artist, Janie Stvan and here is the story behind the bead....

My studio assistant, Rhayne and I had gathered beads to donate for the "Beads of Courage"
challenge that was being hosted on one of the glass forums back in November. For our participation, we were entered into a drawing and we lucky enough to be drawn for this beautiful black and white dotted bead. I will miss Quin, but finding this bead on the day of his passing was fate...this bead will be around to remind me of a very special friend.

  1. Deronda what a touching post. I am so sorry to hear that you have lost Quinn, but it does almost seem like a sign that you found this bead on the same day. Safe journey Quinn, you are in good company.

  13. I'm sorry for your loss. If Quin went peacefully in his sleep, that was easiest for both of you. I've been there - and after the initial hysteria wore off I was able to realize that how my Dakota went (in his sleep) was really best for both of us. I've had to suffer through losing a dog to canine lupus and never would want anyone to go through that horrible journey! I hope you make something for yourself from the black and white bead to remind you of your Quin. Warm puppy hugs. Brenda
